re: Skyforge - Ascension atlas

Here's a much better description of the atlas and how to unlock more classes!

A Guide To Skyforge's Ascension Atlas

By AnotherInfinity on May 13, 2015 7317 1

The Ascension Atlas is the character progression system of Skyforge. It is through this feature that your character will, slowly but sure, join the side of Immortals that are now revered as Gods. It is also one of three main sourced of Prestige in the game, along with the character's equipment and the Order.

First of all, some things you need to know:
  • Atlas: There are two types of Atlases in Skyforge. The class Atlas, referred to as the Lower Atlas, and the character Atlas, referred to as the Upper Atlas. They will both relatively look the same, even though the Upper Atlas will be much larger.
  • Node: A node is a central core surrounded by several other nodes. It allows you to unlock stats, a new skill, a talent, as well as new classes and the Divine form of your character.
The Class Atlas is the first one you will have access to. This is where you will be getting the most of your stats boost, but also where your character will develop the most by unlocking new skill. While the main benefit of this Atlas will be the rapid increase in your Prestige, your main goal should be reaching the Ultimate Skill node and gain access to the Upper Atlas. Once it has been achieved, you will be presented with two choices. Either keep focusing on your initial character and perfecting it by unlocking all of its nodes, or work your way through the Ascension Atlas and unlock new classes.

The Sparks
As you open you Atlas interface (the default key being K), you will notice 3 hexagon icons, each with their own color, as well as a fourth one that will differ depending on whether you in the Class Atlas or the Upper Atlas. These are your Sparks, the "currency" you will need to unlock nodes and move further into the Atlas.

These are shown more clearly in the following screenshot.

As you can see, there are two additional special Sparks that are available in Skyforge. Sparks of Transgression are simply the Sparks your character will require to unlock new classes. Spark Replicators, on the other hand, are slightly more complicated. The cannot be used by themselves. Instead, as their name implies, they are meant to replicate other Sparks obtained by your character. Simply put, as you character obtains different types of Sparks, be it in the form of loot or quest rewards, the Spark Replicator will be used to create copies of whichever Sparks were obtained. It should also be noted that the copies created will not exceed 50% of the number of Sparks obtained.

But let us know back to the basic Sparks. These can be used on any Character Atlas, as well as the Upper Atlas, and can only be obtained as rewards for completing instances, or quests on open area maps. They can only unlock stats nodes, each of them being assigned to a specific stat as you can see below:

Skyforge Beginner's Guide

You will notice the absence of Talents and Skills in the above table. That is because these require a special type of Sparks known as Class Sparks. Class Sparks can be obtained as loot by killing creatures (1-5 sparks of your current class) or bosses (12-30 sparks of your current class), and will be dependent on a drop rate. Each Skyforge class will have its own type of Class Sparks, which while being practical also means that they can only be used on their specific classes.

As of the latest Closed Beta, the available Class Sparks were as followed:

Unlock a Class
In the Upper Atlas, you will discover a number of different nodes with great stat boosts, as well as special talents that can be assigned to your character regardless of the class used. The most interesting nodes in this atlas will however be those that unlock new classes. They are easy to recognize, possessing a special symbol as shown in the image below.

As mentioned previously, these nodes will require Sparks of Transgression, the prices varying depending on their position: the more distant they are from the center, the more they will cost.

Keep in mind, however, that a newly unlocked class will not be as powerful as one that has been used for a while. In fact, try to avoid confrontation as much as possible if you play solo as even the weakest monsters will kill you in seconds. Either quest with friends and develop this class, or switch back to the old one and gather the sparks required to unlock the nodes of the Atlas of your new class.

Divine Form
The Divine Form can be obtained by unlocking a special node on the Ascension Atlas. This node will be unlike any of the others, requiring a special crystal to be unlocked. Moreover, to obtain this crystal, your will need to complete a "quest" after you've reached a fairly high prestige (according to rumors, between 22,000 and 50,000!).
