How to avoid the disconnect when leaving the fishing hotspot

As you may have experienced, when you leave an area with a huge cluster of players, you'll often get disconnected as soon as the majority of the white dots on your minimap suddenly disappear.    This happens to me every morning after leaving the hotspot near Velia.

And someone posted a workaround (the location of which I have lost).   But it worked for me.

1.) Use the escape feature  (in the system menu -- the big "Escape" button

2.) Head to the Ferry Crossing Keeper  (Criox if you're near Velia)

3.) Use Remote Collection to retrieve your boat.  (For my raft it costs my 1000 silver)

For me this is much preferable to being disconnected, sometimes many times in a row, and then having to wait 10 minutes to sell my fish.

I mean I kinda like the game and all......but there really is not much to do here.....

Yeah, I thought fishing and having lengthy discussions with NPCs was about the only thing to do,  but apparently there's this whole combat-oriented aspect of the game as well ... who knew?

Don't forget horse taming :)  And I haven't even done that lately cuz I am busy training these beauties that I have.

I have experienced the dreaded disconnect though but I didn't realize what the 10 minute timer was for. Thanks for that!

By accident, on my first day out there, I had fallen overboard and was drowning under all the boats and I did exactly that escape trick. So it does work like a charm.

Does it have a distance limit though? (For when I just sail off into the sunset)......Just wondering.
